Hi! My name is Eliza. Since the last Lewisham Food Partnership newsletter, I have been appointed as the Good Food Lewisham Coordinator. I have been brought on board to help raise the profile of the food network across the borough of Lewisham and to help achieve Lewisham's Sustainable Food Cities Bronze Award!
... if you are involved in an exciting and relevant project, or for more information on how you can get involved in helping Lewisham to achieve its Bronze!
What is Good Food Lewisham?
Coming together to achieve our Sustainable Food Cities (SFC) Bronze Award means that, as a borough, we are working collectively to improve our health and levels of sustainability.
Good Food Lewisham is a Sustainable Food City. It is a point of contact and information hub for all things relating to good food within Lewisham.
The SFC Bronze Award is important for Lewisham as it will show that, using food as a driver for positive change, we are working to tackle some of the most prevalent issues in Lewisham; from an epidemic of food poverty ... ... to diet related ill-health... ... to the loss of independent high street food businesses ... ... to climate change, biodiversity loss and food waste.
This newsletter is packed with only a handful of the wonderful things which have been going on across Lewisham this summer. Follow Good Food Lewisham's journey this year as we discover more and more of the fabulous food feats in the borough.

Holiday Hunger: a prevalent issue in the borough of Lewisham. Holiday Hunger describes the issue of how children who receive free lunches at school during term time source their meals during the holiday periods.
This summer, Lewisham Council teamed up with Chartwells to run a Holiday Meals pilot in an attempt to combat this concern.

The Whitefoot and Downham Community Food Plus Project exists to alleviate food poverty and build caring communities. We achieve this by providing food through a local Food Project, promote healthy living, positive partnerships with local community organisations, and by building caring communities that encourages socialising and reduces isolation.
We only operate due to an amazing team of 50 local volunteers. They come from all walks of life and each bring something unique and special to the Food Project.
Every week, we serve between 30-40 individuals, and including their households equates to 70-80 people supported.
